Hi There.

After seeing Johnny Ramones's guitar when I was a teenager I'm mad about mosrites. Being a lefty it seems nearly impossible to find one or at least a decent copy of it. I collected a shitoad of pictures from the internet but never a real mosrite.

I'am a bassguitarist so I wanted a mosrite bass lefthanded what else could I do than to buy the eastwood hiflyer model. It's a great guitar but from the day I had it, I knew something wasn't right.

Then a few years later I saw a guy on a dutch guitarforum was building a lefty mosrite guitar and then it stroke me. I just gotta have me one. I contacted the builder and he agreed to build me a mosrites mark I bass. Oigun thanks a mil for that.

He and Olav tipped me out about the board so here I am. I already buy a couple of pups from Tim here. Love ya for that!

My name on this forum and al other guitarrelated forums I'm registered is Saf. My real name is Sef but almost everyone I know calles me Saf.
I'm 28 years of age and a silk screen printer / sigmaker by trade. Born and Raised in the netherlands so mind my sometimes poor english writing.

Musical I love older music. Some rather obscure 60's music, but dig the let's call it pre punk muziek and later evolved punkmusic to. The greatest intrest is in Irish folkmusic witch I used to play before the band broke up.

Other then that I collect bassguitars. I now own about 50 to 55 bassguitars. Most of them short scales and vintage one and the biggest intressest is in not the average style guitar. So some old fenders (mustang, musicmasters, coronado) but for the rest it's eko's, egmonds, klira's, eastern european made basses an other oddballs.

Besides Music and Guitars I have a weak heart for rabbits. It may sound silly. I have 8 rabbits myself, and I'm a volunteer in a rabbit shelter and for a dutch organisation who informs people about responceble rabbit ownership and stuff like that. We also give information to the goverment concerning new laws and stuff regarding rabbits as pet animals.

being on a mosrites forum I couldn't push the summit button without at least one pic of me and my eastwood. Some years back now, with the long hair still hanging from the back of my head.

Welcome to the forum. Nice introduction and great pictures! That rectangular bass looks like a Gretsch Bo Diddley.

That rectangular bass (nicknamed the plank) is an homemade body married with the neck of an '77 fender musicmaster bass.

It was ment to be a sort of tribute to Bo and as tribute to minimalistic guitardesign. It was suppost to be finished off in a fire-engine red with black bindings. Sadly my father with who I wa sbuilding it passed away.

The bass remained the same from that day one. And I have played it on many gigs through the years.

Your "plank" must be a real fun bass to play, I've never seen a Bo Diddley tribute in bass. I would LOVE to see it get finished [both meanings] in fire engine red
I'm sure that would've made your dad proud, but I respect your reason(s) for keeping it as is now.

Wow, you have so many bass guitars...you have to make an estimate!

Welcome to the forum, Saf. I tried an Eastwood too but I didn't buy it, The guitar didn't get close enough to Mosrite tone for me to consider it.

The plank bass will be as it was for personal reason indeed. It was a choice. I'm a wreck in doing things myself so it would have ended as a disaster. vAnd having send that I'm grown to love it the way it is. It's so simplistic but yet so usefull. What more do you need?





@101volts And I have to count them but I'm to lazy to do so. I also have a colelction of guitars made by the dutch venlonia/famos factory in the 40's till the early 70's that's also some 50 what guitars. So it's a little bit over crouded in the house, haha

Never ever heard a real mc coy mosrite bass in my life so I couldn't compare the eastwood to that sounds. And beinig a lefty and at that time now distrubuter anywhere in de country I had to order it unseen directly by eastwood canada. It's plays and sounds great met the carve isn't. I thing. But on the other hand the eastwood is a copy of a univox hi-flyer and not a eastwood so... And it is a lot better build and sounding then the univox hiflyer bass I once owned.
