Hi!
I'm Dave (aka Mister Fox, Foxy Dave, Foxy D or just "hey you").
Somehow I'm almost 47 years old. Not sure how that happened.
I fell in love with Mosrites and the Ventures in my very early teens when all my friends were listening to '70's stadium rock. The Ramones Road to Ruin album was one of the first records that I bought for myself and was the begining of some serious music obsession.
At 16 I taught myself to play the school music dept's bass just enough to form a "punk rock" band for the high school talent show.
in 1980 punk was Ramones, Adverts, 999 and so on. At least where I grew up (Seattle).
I let a few years go by before before I bought my own first bass. I've been playing ever since.
Wow, rambling! Anyway, I have always wanted a Mosrite bass and finally got the GAS to lay down the cash.
I'm now the proud owner of a Kurokumo (2004-ish?) '65 RI (non Ventures) bass. I'll post some pics later and will be asking LOTS of questions. I really don't know much about the Kurokumo instruments and there doesn't seem to be much info online aside from a few posts on this forum. I'll say the the Fillmore website is 1000% better than Kurokumo's.
Nice to be here,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Not to be too nosy, but how did you get your bass, was it in a shop or online?
What color, I am guessing it is similar to a Mark X shape.

...and enjoy the forum!

Please feel free to be nosy.
I found it on Ebay. I'm sure some others here must have seen it but I got it. :D
It is used but aside from a light scratch on the back it's flawless. The seller lives in Tokyo.
I assumed it was a Fillmore but the seller told me it's a Kurokumo. It appears that neither of those companies are selling a 2 pickup bass at this time and one way or another I'd like to find out more about the production date of this particular instrument. I'm not sure (yet) what you mean by Mark X shape. It's the classic shape w/ German carve and the ink blue finish was supposedly a custom order.
Thanks for your interest!! I'm still at work today and have a show to play tonight so I probably won't get around to uploading any pics till the weekend. Keep a look out for them and subsequent questions about various minutia.
Dave

Hey, Dave--

Welcome to the best forum on the Web!

Are you in Washington state or Washington, DC?

I work downtown and live just outside the District.
