Hello all,

I've bee reprimanded for not coming here first and promised I would cease and desist on all postings until I put a note in here.

Originally from the Bay Area (Alameda), I now live in the Seattle area. In my youth I played loud obnoxious heavy metal and hardcore stuff, and played in a few bands. These days I'm quite a bit more mellow, and just last week, I finally delved into performing solo at a local open mic, with nothing but an acoustic (and a PA) (until a bunch of people started joining in later). It went well. What was supposed to be just a song or 2 ended up being 2 hours and everything I knew.

I've owned my Mosrite since the early 90s. and knew it since the early 80s. It was just recently restored by Bob Shade of Hallmark guitars.

Actually there is a reason why we like introductions. Many of us were already acquainted on a couple of other forums, and when I started this forum many new faces appeared. Those of us that were already acquainted pretty much knew each others background whether they were a collector, player, builder, country of origin, language spoken etc. so no introductions were necessary. With so many new 'faces' we didn't know the level of expertise or background and a couple of people got offended and left because certain things said here on the forum.

Not being able to remember everyone that joins the forum, by introducing oneself we not only have a base line of understanding, but as time passes and multiple posts are made, moderators or other members can refer back to this introduction forum for the background folks have when it comes to Mosrites. It becomes a tool. Actually I should add that this only applies to those people that actually want to be an active part of this forum as many of us become friends both on and off the forum. Some folks register just to ask a question then leave. Naturally for those people we could care less if they introduce themselves.

I guess you could say the Mosrite forum is actually a family of a tight knit group of members that have a unique and common interest. We want this forum to be a place everyone is comfortable with and hope this becomes their number one hangout. If we ask you to introduce yourself it is because we not only want to know who you are, but we would like you to become part of the family.

So with all that said, I hope you understand and not feel that you have been reprimanded, but will be an active contributor and continue to share your expertise.

OK, I do belong to a couple of different forums, but I have very little imagination and have a hard time keeping screen names straight, so I'm the same dude in all of them. I rarely contribute to the big monster forums and am more at home in the small ones. Some of my most visited include Ovation Fan Club, International T-60 Owner's Club (Peavey T-60 forum), and the Takamine forum.

I am a member of the surf101 place too, but rarely visit.

As for guitars, I've had dozens and dozens over the years and have come to find out that I'm quite partial to Ovation's line of acoustics (and for that matter solid bodies too). They make up the lion's share of my instruments.

WoW! I didn't know that until you just mentioned it. Damon, do you own a Deacon, Breadwinner, or the ORIGINAL Viper?!?!?

Thanks for taking the time to post an introduction. Heck, another post with that amazing double-neck is AOK by me! Good to know the Peavey T-60 has a fan base too; they were an interesting design.

Dennis, the Deacon/Breadwinners never really did it for me, so I've never had one. Really. I fibbed a bit in another post. My first guitar was the Preacher, but I traded up a month later for the UKII. I think the UKII is one of the most fantastic electrics ever made.

I have 3 other Ovation electrics and yes, the Viper is one. It's a '75 (first year) with the most beautiful burst on it. The second is a prototype called a PF-22. It's the second one they made of about 20 and this one has handmade pickups! The name of it has a great story and is related to the Peavey T-60 (Stands for Peavey F*cker-22) The 3rd is my current favorite (UKII excluded). It's a '67 Ovation Tornado hollowbody. It's the 535th Ovation ever made. I just love this guitar. Another restore story, but I did this one myself.

I suppose I'm sounding like a collector here, but I'm not. All my guitars are fully functional and get played... a lot! I'd say I put in at least 20 hours of play time per week, and have decided to start playing out again.

I did have some museum pieces for a while, but moved them all out. The last 2 just went in trade for the Custom Elite LX 12 string, including a very NOT replaceable '68 Glen Campbell 12 fret to the body 1118 12 string... MINT. That was tough to do. But after playing the new Elite, I haven't looked back once. I took it to the open mic the other night as my main axe. Friggin amazing guitar!

I was always afraid of putting a scratch on that Glen Campbell so it stayed in it's case. So silly. At least with "Bobby" there's a crap load of scratches, nicks and such. No worries there, let's play!
