Hi from NELA (Eagle Rock). I'm pushing the upper limit of the relevant marketing demographic at 49 now, and married and all... guess guitars are taking over my spare time in some kind of midlife syndrome. I am a longtime guitar player with pitiful resume, mostly playing by myself. I audition when I can but since I started trying here in LA, no thumbs up yet. Still hoping to join a surf band, on either guitar, baritone or bass.
I assemble (not going to call my level of craft building) guitars and obsess on finishes these days. Still horrible with a soldering iron. I missed my chance some 15 yrs ago to get a cheap Mosrite when the store in Bakersfield had a lot on their walls. Hope I can get a Hallmark or M3 someday. In the meantime, I am assembling a guitar or two with less expensive Mosrite features like bridge, tailpiece and pickups. Hopefully my attempts won't scandalize.
Thanks for your indulgence!

49?, I've got ties older than that. It's great to have you on the forum and out here in L.A. Nela. There's plenty of players around so I'm sure it won't be long before you find a spot in one of the bands. Be sure to check out Surfguitar101 if you haven't already. That's a good network of surf players. -Marty

Welcome. if you get a Mosrite I highly suggest you buy a hard case for it, Many of the models from the 1960s have bodies made out of Basswood which dents very easily; I dented mine just by tapping it with a screwdriver that fell off while I was adjusting the bridge, That's how easy it is to dent them. However, Mine didn't have a factory finish on it then so I wonder if it would've resisted a dent more if it did have its original finish. Oh well, I bought it as it needed parts and it looked like this when I got it:
