This was sent to me via private message. Fortunately I happened by this site today and got the notification. Sorry that I don't visit here much anymore but you all are in good hands with Mel Waldorf at the helm.

That being said, I have used Mosrites since '65, for most gigs/jobs. I was never/ever in a position to standup on stage and WOW the audience, I was never that good, however, I could play a mean backup for the more gifted players.

The reason I am here is because I still have a few guitars but can not verify the years of each for insurance purposes. Looking at the Mosrite.com site, only one serial number even comes close to being an original Mosrite.

BTW! I do hope this note is acceptable as a sort of welcoming myself to the members of this site.
I waited almost 24 hours for the notice to be sent to my email address, which never arrived.

I will post my guitars actual serial numbers and wait to see if people here can name all 3 models and years. Should be a simple job to name each model and at the same time verify my guitars model and age for insurance purposes.

And, yes, I also met Semie as well as Jimmy Latrell. I was in a few of Jimmys classes along with the Fogerty Bros and a few other guitar greats in the late 60's /early 70's. That was when I realized I had no future as a lead guitarist.

Gospel Guitar – same as Mosrite Celebrity II with different headstock shape and logo, I guess it's a 1966 or 1967
#2 T_1__42
Mosrite Ventures 12-sting, I guess from late 1965 or early 1966 (could have stamped dates at neck and body's neck cavity)
#3 2_8 or B_004
Well, if it's B004 it's a Mosrite Ventures II and I'd like to see some pictures of it! If it is B004 it's made around June 1965 (I guess there are no stamped dates)

Hey ern1955, welcome to the forum! Was fortunate to have met Tom Fogerty after the CCR split, and John a few times also. Hope you find the info you need here on the fourm.

Thanks for the heads-up. The one thing I am not, is proficient on the internet, amongst several thousand other things I have tried and failed at lol.

But I do keep trying, one day I might even find something I really AM good at.

Just my luck it will have no monetary value to anyone but myself.

I was actually more of a backup singer with no band or lead singer, so I had to improvise.
The good thing about that was if I messed up a song, nobody knew as I just finished it as if I
had planned it that way.

I must have been better than what I thought because I was soon making more playing music than my day job. And as soon as I found my first Mosrite, my playing really improved. I was hooked, had to have every model of Mosrite, which never happened, but I did have a lot over the years. I sold all my other guitars and had 7 Mosrites at one time. (also had and kept my first guitar, a '52 Kay 'F' hole non-electric which I still use when I am teaching kids how to play) I sold my 53 tele, 60's country Gentleman, sg, and many others to buy another 55 chevy, and never regretted my decision. Had the chevy till '95.

Cars, guitars and young women (and a forgiving wife) made for a happy man. I also dealt in pre '57 autos. (have pix of a few of my cars in case anyone's interested or doesn't believe me.)

All ended in '95 when my wife had a series of strokes, made me think I better stay home more often, so retired and lived off the sale of my car and guitar collections.

I was neither rich nor famous, but I WAS well known and working most weekends for many years.

This about covers my bio, anyone wanting more, will have to buy the book when it comes out LOL.

Is it B004, a slab bodied guitar without German Carve, with a strange tremolo, a full sized pickguard and smaller than usual pickups, headstock logo saying Ventures II model?

I wasn't that smart! I thought I could juggle 2 jobs, a growing family, commuting and guitar lessons AND become 'rich & famous' all before I was 25yo.

I played in a few bands and discovered that I really hated it. To many under achievers all wanting to MAKE it without practicing till they got it right. I gave up and went Solo or with just a drummer.

I did pretty good by including anyone that wanted to sing though. Backing up people is easy in a relaxed atmosphere, missed or wrong words are forgiven when using customers as guest performers.

My other magic trick was switch from melody to harmony during some of my songs.
Blew the peoples minds as some started looking for the other singer, when what it was, was them hearing what they expected to hear in their mind only and hearing my harmony.

I think you are getting confused. the guitar I have using # 2 B (or8) 004 is a 4 string Bass guitar

the pickups are the same size, and it does NOT say Ventures II
this is the first time I have gotten this deep into what I have, so bare with me as I post the pix
not sure what the German carve is yet, so can't comment on it

and the Gospal says Mosrite of California

Assuming that I actually get them loaded, what would be a good size pix to post here.

I was planning on just emailing them to this site, like I do to other sites. (like I said before, me and pc's are not on speaking terms. As close as I have gotten is to be able to post to emails.)

Have no fear though, I will get the pix posted, even if I have to ask one of my grandkids to help me.
What I fear is that my great-grandkids are already smarter than me on the internet anyways LOL.
