In Houston since 1958 and got interested in The Ventures when Walk Don't Run first was on the radio. Between them and The Beach Boys, I began my love for the surf sound.
Took up guitar trying to pick out chords to the Ventures tunes and learned a little bit more from Play With The Ventures records.
On and off for a long time (mostly off) I "play-at" guitar, took a few lessons but the teacher didn't want to teach what I wanted to learn, so I picked at it. Wish I was better at it.
First guitar was a 1965 Wards special along with a Wards amp, got rid of that for a 1966 Gibson Melody Maker II SG and a 1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. Sold both of those in 2011 and got a Fender Squire Strat and Fender Frontman 25R, now the Jay Turser Mosman and a Fender Champion 40 amp are in my possession.
