Re: Mark 1 weights
They have to be some of the lightest and most ergonomic guitars ever made.

my 72 VII weighs 8.7
my 74 VII weighs 8.5
my johnny model came in at 8 pounds even (i added additional electronics which makes it weigh much more then the typical ventures 2 guitar)
and my 72 stereo 350 came in at 9.3.

Re: Mark 1 weights
Interesting. 'Oft e-hear folks talking about guitar weights and it's a bit bewildering, personally. 'Am a self confessed philistine to whom the nuances of scale length, fingerboard radius and string spacing and neck depth...are largely lost upon.
After you pick up an excellently-set up instrument and start playing, doesn't the weight and just about everything else become sort of inconsequential and you and your body compensate?
That said, cudlling the Mk I is much the same thrill as having a metaphorical supermodel in love with one, while some other guitars are more the equivalent girl next door or at best, prom queen.

Re: Mark 1 weights
I have been playing for almost 50 years and never weighed a single guitar untill the Tele folks (another forum) started worrying about it. It seems that the Mark 1's stay around 7-8 pounds, which is where my Hallmark is. I would certainly not turn down an affordable Mosrite due to weight. But if anyone has one that they consider too heavy (or too light), let me make an offer. ThoughI might get into a bidding war with Veenture.
