Get out your ohm meter, set it to a range above 20K. Connect a black wire with a white wire and check the ohms by using the meter probes on the other white and black wires respectively. Try the different combinations of the white and black wires until you find the higher, (series) reading.
Having the fifth ground wire separate is a good thing which gives these pickups the option of out of phase, series and parallel configurations. (On my pickup pictured here the ground wire is also black but typically they are bare).
