Help Serial Number Question

Hi to all, just found this Mosrite in a local music store. I think it is a 1966 Ventures.
What is odd to me that the serial number reads *15*. Help Peterjohn

Hello there..........sometimes the serial numbers when punched were done harder on some and lighter on others and can be faint resulting in one or two of the numbers being very hard to read or see. Try looking harder as that number and mabey even take a magnifying glass as this makes no sense at all. Also check for a fret job as IF the fingerboard was plained, the numbers again could be faint and possibly even a couple numbers shy if they were plained off.
