Unusual Celebrity paint schemes

Postby Sarah93003 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:57 am

I am wondering if anyone has seen anything like these two examples. The first is a Mosrite Celebrity that I thought was done as a homemade decopage theme. But, now I am not so sure. Has anyone ever seen another Mosrite done in this style? Incidently, the owner of this guitar told me that it has an Easter Egg insided the body?????

Second is the headstock of a mint 1972 Mosrite Dobro. The Dobro has the Mosrite logo over the decoration. This Dobro also has the Celebrity body. Any thoughts on this?? Thanks!

Those are quite interesting paint jobs, Sarah. I can't offer any knowledge about these paint jobs but is the second picture of the Celebrity from when it was being painted? Also what does the owner mean by an Easter Egg inside the body, Was it painted on the inside as well?

The first one looks like a guitar that one of the guys over at the ReRanch refinishing forum worked on - it's been a while since I saw it, so it may be a different one.

Hey Austin. In the second photograph the owner removed the pickups so show the Easter Egg inside the body cavity. It is a hollow Easter Egg that was decorated and evidently put into the guitar before was finally put together. Strange, huh? My take on that is the guitar may have been made at Easter time and someone just inserted the prize to be discovered later. :D

The owner of the guitar said he bought this Celebrity just as it is. He does not know if it was a factory finish or done later.
