Spoke to Ed Sanner. Mosrite acquired the pickup rings when they purchased Dobro. The rings were already made by Dobro and yes there were two styles and Mosrite never went through all of them.

Ken Gilstrap was winding pickups for Mosrite before the automated winder was purchased from Microfrets and he got a bunch of the chrome rings and used them when Rosac started up.

One of the first projects at Rosac was making Melobar guitars for Walt Smith. They made a few hundred and most of them were sold door to door in trailer parks as a new way for folks to play a musical instrument with little training.
