The switches are kinda weird, but they work ergonomically. The upper switch turns the upper neck on or off. For it to work, the middle neck has to be "on" too.

The bottom switches are pickup selectors, and a switch for the bottom and middle necks. Again, for the upper neck to work, the middle neck has to be "on" already, so no switching back and forth from the big twelve to the little twelve! Pretty crazy....but obviously it worked for Bob Regan.

Ha! Seriously, as one of the few lucky enough to own one of Danny's guitars, I can say they are exactly right they way he builds them!

What's the function of the thumb wheel adjuster by the vibrato spring?

Deke messed a little with the thumb screw by the tremolo spring. It looked like it adjusted the spring height and in turn the handle height. Never saw this before.

We'll probably see Robert from time to time as his dad's doubleneck guitar progresses. I may be asked to replace the humbuckers in the tri-neck. If so, we can take
a look inside to see what going on in there. And also weigh it.

I was aware of only 3 custom triple necks. Semie's own test bed guitar, the Jessup guitar in Florida and the Bob Regan one. Robert says he found pictures of 5.
He's trying to find them again.

After 'reviewing' some old archives, this subject caught my attention. Everyone agrees that the thumb screw might of very well been used to adjust the handle height.
However I wander if that might of been an early attempt to keep the spring from popping out of its housing. As guitar players started getting more crazy with 'the handle' by pulling it UP as well as pushing it down, especially with light gauge strings, some players started experiencing the 'pop-out' problem. Although most guitars did not have that problem, there actually were a good amount that did. In the mid to late 80's (early 90's?), Semie started using a wide flat screw on some of his guitars which held down the bottom part of the spring in place. My guess is he attached these screws only on the guitars which had this problem. When Semie did a restoration on my '63 back in '88-90, this was one of the first things I had noticed which was NOT on the guitar when I had sent it to him in '87. I never asked Semie about it as I was too excited about getting the '63 back after waiting almost 2 years. My 1988 which I had custom ordered in '88 while waiting for my '63 Gem' also had it as well as my J.M. Doubleneck. My pearl '65 could use one for it too has this problem.

As for the 5 Triple necks, I believe there are only 3 survivors and I hope I'm wrong. I read way way back about one of the triple necks burning up in the fire in Jonas Ridge
besides Semie's test bed. The other was supposedly stolen. Maybe someone with more knowledge will see this a '2nd' time around and give us any new news.....any thoughts?
