Cool Mosrite Ephemera...a 1968 endorsement contract

Postby Deke Dickerson » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:06 am

Here's a rare bit of Mosrite ephemera--a 1968 endorsement contract for "Stark Naked And The Car Thieves." Anybody ever heard of these guys?

It's pretty interesting, to see what the company demanded of a band in exchange for free use of their guitars.

Only one of these I've ever seen.

I find it interesting that Michael McDonald and Doug Ingle are listed as former members.

Yeah the pictures are pretty cool.
So what would a contract have meant to a band of this stature ie not the Ventures, one or two guitars each? Personally I reckon I could a fit lot of mosrites into a two year contract.
Also how were bands approached? (or did they approach mosrite?)
Just dreaming of endless free mosrites on tap.........

Johnny,
Nice find on Stark Naked's Website. I guess these guys were another "up and coming" group that
fell victim along with many other groups due to possibly bad management, personel problems, etc.
However, their history thread was very interesting. And ditto on what gplayer posted about
McDonald and Ingle. I had found this VERY interesting that Doug Ingle had joined this group
AFTER HE LEFT his old group 'Iron Butterfly.'

I think what was too much here is that they guys are actually 'stark naked'. Thank goodness other bands didnt take their name to the press release shots, like the 'Butthole Surfers'??!!
