Adam, is that your guitar that I posted above? The photo's you posted look like it had smooth pickup covers.

And the legend goes on. I just talked to Andy and he is doing well and will be home tomorrow night. He is interested in seeing these. For now he does not remember why Semie did these ones marked Custom. For now at least.

Yes, that is the same guitar I used to own. It went through two sets of pickups during it's time with me (Mosrite w/ polepieces and EF Elliott without), and both were included when I sold the guitar.

Thanks Adam. That Letter from Andy should ring a bell. Thanks for the posts. This is very interesting. I fear I will have to dive into the file cabinet's again to maybe solve why a hand full of guitars were marked as such. Model's so marked for a trademark or just a trial
to see if any interest. If these were made in Jonas Ridge is one thing, but prior to 81 or pre
fire or post fire at the shop.?

As I said, I have personally played a white 1976 SM model (slab body, Bluesbender shape) that said "Semie Moseley" on the headstock instead of "The New Mosrite of California." It is also documented in one of those out-of-print Japanese books.

I like! Kind of Mosrite answer to a Telecaster ... Be nice to know how it sounds. Seems like there would have been a market for these, seeing it has a more traditional design to it.
