Re: What is this??
There's also a pic around of Jimi Hendrix playing a left-handed Black Widow in the studio, one of the very few actual lefty guitars he;s known to have had. I've never seen a pic of him on stage with it, though.

Re: What is this??
Thanks guys!

Interesting!! Unfortunately it was a repair job, both pickups where dead...and it's not mine
Fortunately I managed to get the pickups fixed without a rewind.l

Dennisthe Menace wrote:Acoustic also produced the "Black Widow" electric guitar and electric bass 1972 - 1975. The guitars and basses were based on designs used by Paul Barth for his Bartell guitars and basses. The majority of the guitars were built in Japan although Semi Moseley (of Mosrite fame) claims of building the last 200 guitars made. One prolific user associated with this guitar was jazz guitarist Larry Coryell who had an endorsement deal. Jimmy Nolen of James Brown's band was also a "Black Widow" user.
Actually, some of the earliest Black Widows were built for Acoustic by Bartell and appeared in the 1969 and 1970 Acoustic catalogs. I've seen a Bartell that was labeled Acoustic and I have a Bartell that's labeled Hohner.
Mosrite Black Widow on left, Bartell/Hohner Black Widow on right.
