Re: Still searching for a double neck
Wow, Sarah--that Gretsch doubleneck is really cool! I don't know why they didn't cut away the area between the necks, though--did they think 12-string players never play past the 14th fret? Seems like they'd save a little weight by adding a cutaway (always a problem with doublenecks). Still, that's a cool guitar, and I'll bet they didn't make too many of those!

Re: Still searching for a double neck
It's the only one I've seen. All of the rest are 6/Baritone. That's a great idea about making room to go up the 12 neck. I think I'll tell Joe Carducci they should consider that. On the other hand, the Gretsch Custom shop is only about an hour away from me and I could have them do that mod. I'll have to think about that!

Re: Still searching for a double neck
On the subject of Joe Maphis Double Necks, The prices are all over the place. I've seen them bid up to $1,600 and $3,500. One went for $7,900 via BIN last month although only one person viewed it before it was bought so I'm suspicious about that one. Personally, I don't think I'd pay more than $2,250 for one but that's my opinion.

Thanks Austin. That's good to know. See, collecting all of that data really pays off when you need a clear picture of things.

Re: Still searching for a double neck
You're welcome. By the way, There was another doubleneck that ended on eBay last month. It sold for $1,650 and was pretty similar to the one you're looking at (Pickups were replaced) Only it was black.

Re: Still searching for a double neck
Hey there Sarah,
I think you need to be the owner of the very first "RS" model 6/12 double neck.
I make my bodies out of Basswood, nice and light, and a great tone-wood.
Cheers,
Ed

Sarah,
That Gretsch is cool, though I bet an Elliott RS double neck would be cooler still. And don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the Micro POG, but I'm also the proud owner of the Ellison Joe Maphis Custom:
