Mosrite V3

Here's a project guitar that I borrowed the picture off an auction on eBay. Although it is a 'partsrite' not authentic to being built by Semie, I'll fudge a little post it here under the Mosrite topic instead of Clone. I believe this to be on of the guitars put together from left over parts that are regularly being sold by a seller from Canada. It does shows that they can be assembled into working guitars. If anyone finds any photos of an actual one built by Semie, please copy and post it here or the forum for future reference.

What I am referring to is photo's of an authentic one with all three pickup's slanted as the one on the eBay auction. Notice how all three are slanted exactly the same. Since there are so many of these showing up on eBay as parts, I'm hoping to see a photo of at least one finished guitar as the real deal.

There are two pictures of Semie with one of the three-tilted pickup guitars on the Mosrite.us website in the photo gallery. Beyond that I haven't seen any besides the parts-rites.

I emailed the owner of the guitar on ebay and he got a neck and body from the Muldoons in Canada, but didn't like the neck and parted out a Mark V for the neck and two of the three pickups.

As for my project, with Dub's help I've been working with the Muldoons to select a replacement neck. As of today I've got one selected, it's a non-binding neck with a bit of a chunky profile, but it looks straight as an arrow and the frets look to be in good shape. I'll continue the saga on the Semi-Mosrite thread when the neck arrives.

BTW, I was thinking of called the guitar a Mosesrite, but I like meshugga mosrite. I certainly have felt a little meshugga (that means crazy in yiddish for all you goyim) for taking on this project but at this point I'm hopeful I'm headed in the right direction.

At last, I found a three photo's of the real deal on the new Mosrite U.S. website. Go to the Photo Gallery. On the first page there's a couple of shots, one with Semie and another fellow holding a purple one. Then right next to that there's one with Semie and Loretta posing with apparently the same guitar. On page two there is a black and white photo of what appears to be a different guitar. All three photo's appear to be exactly like the guitar Mel is building.

I'd better not try and copy the photo as they are copyrighted and state they cannot be copied without consent.

P.S. has anyone contacted Loretta through that website and asked her to visit this forum?

Good detective work, dubtrub, although the guitar in the black and white photo with the flamey top is not exactly the same and is probably a one-off or a prototype (note the elongated upper horn).

I noticed that, Dockrock. It may just be the lighting or angles, but I often see variations in the German curves on the tops. I know a lot of this is done by hand, but sometimes I think I can see some "experimentation" with top carves. You guys are the experts with hands-on experience. Have you seen this, especially between the Mosrites from the 60's compared to the 80's into the 90's?
One interesting "one off" variation on a Mark 1 is the guitar (go to the Photo Gallery at the Mosrite.us site) Semie (wearing a psychedelic jacket and sportin' a 'fro) is playing with the reddish pu covers and the raised pickguard like on the Maphis double necks from the 50's. Anyone know anything about this guitar and any others like it? I'm guessing it's something he made for himself, but just wondering if anyone knew about.
