Your opinions of early 70s Mark Is?

The early 70s Mark I models (With sunburst headstocks) Appeal to me, Finish wise. However, I want to know how they play and sound because I may buy one when I get the chance. What are the early 70s Mark Is like compared to the 60s models?

Austin--Some of the guys on the forum who are really into the 70's guitars can probably tell you better than I can, but for my money the 70's ones are mostly different in the necks. The 70's necks are wider at the nut, generally have bigger frets, and yet are thinner from front to back than 60's necks. Do you other guys agree?
I also think that the '63-'65 guitars with Vibramute tailpieces sound better because the bridge/tailpiece has so much more mass than the pot-metal Moseley tailpieces. But it really depends on what kind of music you're going to play on the guitar.

My 71 has easily the thinnest— and for mine—the best neck of any guitar I've ever played. I used to like just holding it without picking a note.
If that sounds weird then forget I said it.
Bill.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still not sure which Mosrite guitar I want to get though. I'm a bit concerned whether or not I'll adjust to the neck. Then again, I adjusted to my Gibson copy's neck after a few days or a week. Should I get an early 70s model or a 60s model? I'm not going to get a MIJ reissue.
Edit: I want a model with the speed frets.

I think that's your call. the sevenites probably had a few more options then in the 60's, but a 60's mosrite is concerned probably buy most the crowning jew of all mosrite guitars. I went with the 70's cuz I prefered the mosrite humbuckers over the p-90's, but I still love the p-90's

Well I want single coils, I think a Mark I (With a sunburst headstock) Could be the best for me if I want a 70s model. As far as the 60s models go though I'm still rather lost because of the Moseley/Vibramute deal. I mean, They were made out of different metals and I KNOW that would effect the tone somehow. I asked a question about the tonal differences at The Gear Page so I'll get back about this later, Hopefully I'll have decides exactly which model I want to get by them.

Austin, unless you happen to have $20K in your back pocket, an aluminum Vibramute is off the table. I'm guessing that resolves your dilemma.
