Check what just floated to the surface! Adam (dorkrock records) just found this on the Fillmore blog--a San Fernando Valley News Mirror article from October 1, 1956, featuring 21-year old Semie Moseley and his "triple-necker" guitar!

I'm just floored by this for a number of reasons. For one thing, it lists an address in Pacoima where he was building guitars, an address that I had never heard mentioned before (and it's about 3 miles away from where Terry and I live--of course we'll go to check it out).

Secondly, it gives a FINITE DATE which so few Mosrite photos or articles give (Oct. 1, 1956--can be seen by blowing up the 2nd photo).

Lastly, it's an interview straight from "the horse's mouth" about a number of subjects that we've only been able to guess at before. Feast your eyeballs on this--thanks Adam!

Exciting find!
Thanks Deke and Adam... :geek: (I'm now going back again to the article to check it out with a fine comb  )
[Edit]I notice the writer spells Semie's name with an "a" (Samie). Could that be a clue as to how the name was pronounced...or was it simply a typo...
[Edit II] I like the way Semie expresses his confidence in his own product..."the best"... :D
[Edit III]...just imagine if Elvis ("Mr E. Presley"!!!) had played one of Semie's...
[Edit IV) tip for the viewer: go to the bottom righthand corner of your screen and blow up the page to 200% for better deciphering of the text and scrutinising "the triple necker" for instance the four knobs! (two of 'em near the neck pickups)

It was a terrific find.
I was surprised as well at the Pacoima address. I'd never heard any mention of that location before.
It was the summer of 1957 that I first had contact with Semie at his Granada Hills/Mission Hills home
on Haskel Ave pictured below. - Terry

Here's a 'street view' from Google Earth of the Semie "Garber House" in Pacoima.

As Deke said, we'll be going to take a better look at the place shortly. It appears to be a long narrow lot.

Super! I'm sure Fillmore have more history goodies. This is not the first time something interesting like this has come up. Cool Deke and Adam.

Fantastic! Notice how they said a "Lever" Rather than a vibrato. Heh, A lever. Well I suppose you could say it like that. Just as long as you don't call it an Antenna.
