Happy New Year to all Members. This time next week I will be in Anaheim, CAlif. As some of you may already know, as News travels fast. I will have the 1963 Ventures Model and The Little Octve Neck off the Original JOE MAPHIS MOSRITE DOUBLE NECK. This is a Rare occasion to see were it all started with Joe. As Terry has stated on his site the original 6 on a side Head Stock was enlarged as the Glue-up Line, visable on the back side of the Head Stock validates. It then became the Floral Design we all remember with 3 Keys on a side.. The Serial # 001 is plainly Visable. I will also have Original SEMIE MOSELEY Hand Made String Winders on Display. The Basic common String Winders we see today are Semie's design. Hand made out of WOOD of course.
However Semie never got a Patent.

For those that asked, Deke has been in touch with me and Brian, and we will go on Stage at the Geek Guitar Festival at Approx. 7:45pm to 8:30pm, Prime Time with DUANE EDDY Closing the Show. This will allow that many more to come over from NAMM to see us and the show. This is a Mosrite Rarity. Brian and I use to do this quite often years ago. It has been 20 years since we have done a DUO. As both myself and Brian knew Semie & Joe & Rosie and Merle Travis, as well as Nokie Edwards. This is a chance to talk to first hand performers and players that were actually there and not read it out of a book. I will be happy to talk about Vintage Guitars and Events that formed Mosrite. Also you can catch me at NAMM 14th-17th. I will be with GRETSCH /FENDER folks on their floor and Stage. Buddy & Suzy Q have invited me to play with them at The Juke Joint at 735 N. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, CA.on Fri. Night the 15th. Also I will appear with them at the Gretsch Show 11:00am at NAMM on Sunday the 17th. As many of you know I am, as Buddy a Gretsch /Fender FMIC Artist. So come out and see the Vintage items. Meet And Greet and we will have a MOSRITE Moment together. Information on my upcoming records on Mosrite Records will also be made available.

This is what it is all about. History. See it and hear it in Anaheim. God Bless

Love to all Members
It's all about the Music and our peers that went before us.

I have an old unmarked string winder made of wood that I've had for longer than I can remember. Did Semie's version look anything like this?

Very Close. The ones I have are a little cruder and probably older. The ones
I have date to mid 1950's. and have a corragated metal Band round the outside
bowl to give strength to the wood. The bowl the key head fits in is round and will accept the Grover Imperial Head also. So the first Imperial's were used by Semie on Joe's Guitar in 1954 as far as I can remember. If I have time I will Photograph
and post. They were really used and the ware while visable shows that Semie used them on a regular basis.

A little off subject here, but does anyone know who invented the string winder and
what year for guitar? I can't find any history on the Website, Ask.com, etc, etc...... :(

Hi Dennis
I have been told that Semie might have made the first articulated Winder I just
don't know but heard Semie and Andy talk about what could have been a grand missed
patent. It may be like the Smilie Face :) No one owns it. I am sure that guy or gal has been kickin' their self for years.
