For years off and on I talked to Semie about putting out a "Semie Moseley Model." Well
as far as I know I never saw one until I asked him to build be a "Plain Jane Guitar" but with a 3 color Sun Burst like the 63's and earlier guitars. This was in late 1991. I can remember talking to him about, "that I would love to have a instrument like this so I would have a modern single neck made during the 40th year of Mosrite", and it would be in a 40th Anniversary Case, which it was when I received it. It would also match my big Double Neck Semie (in the 3 color spray style) built me. While I do not know if the guitar was completely finished before he had to stop working. I know he had it sprayed and was close to completion. I know that at the time it was the only one. The Serial is SMP001 (Semie Moseley Prototype). As more guitars were turned out before the Arkansas factory closed, there may be several, who knows. Probably less than 25. The money was in the "Ventures Models". I am pretty sure that attention was directed in that manner. This guitar is sure at the tail end of work Semie did. It was certainly fitting that in the 40th year of MOSRITE that Semie the "creator" have his name on one of his instrument's. Oh by the way CHECK out the the wood and grain pattern on the fretboard. And notice the 3 color burst on the Headstock edges as shown in the closeup of the headstock. I thank the family for seeing that I received it only a couple of weeks after his passing. Thanks !
God Bless this Special Man.
I miss him so.
Love to all
