A Few Pics of my 1965 Ventures Model Bass

My parents bought this bass for me in 1965. We had to travel 60 miles to get it since there were no local Mosrite dealers in the area at the time. I played this bass exclusively until the early 90's when I started getting into 5-string basses. I still like to play this one out once in a while.

I almost sold it to a vintage guitar dealer in the mid-80's. Fortunately he never showed up to look at it and after that I decided to keep it forever.

I still remember my jaw dropping when I walked into the store and saw it hanging on the wall. I always try to keep my instruments in the best shape possible. I don't think there are any scratches on the back - I always cover my belt buckle with a polishing cloth. The bass has always had either flatwound or most frequently tapewound strings on it. I used those because I liked the sound. Little did I know I was preserving the frets at the same time.
