I thought I had this Mosrite figured but I wan't convinced, I mean I have daily drivers here In the salt belt that are 89 and 90 that r in better condition than this....
It just looks older than '89....
Well I desoldered the pots and there are date codes of 1966...I am trying to post some pics that may help...I will appreciate any input ....and Yes I know it is a mess....I scraped down to the original color which was a wine base with metal flake-clear and clearcoat. It must have been a looker.

I really apreciate that, I was getting frustrated......I was concentrating on the Serial Number which really was sending my imagination to wawa land....
Did the early sn's just not have any "format"? This one has a "HV0 3 'XXX' ", it doesen't match any form I've seen .......yet...

I don't know if I'd hold on to "early 1966", for a couple of reasons.

I've seen a lot of Celebrities with a mix of "Circle R" and non "Circle R" on the pickups. I've even seen 1972 models without the "Circle R". Although it's a decent indicator I would look to other clues.

The tremolo, if it's original, is a Moseley with the patent number. The patent number was not issued until March 1, 1966. Considering it would take some time to incorporate that patent number into the mold, any guitar with a Moseley tremolo with the patent number I would say would be mid 1966 and later.

The Pot Codes. All of the pots I've seen had the pot code on the side of the pot. The pot code needs to be a number such as 1346626. Such a code would indicate Central Labs (134), 1966 (66) June/July (26) for the 26th week of 1966.

The knobs would offer another clue depending if they have the "V" and "T" on them.

I think it's safe to put this one from mid 1966 to early 1969, pending further clues.

I just added the knobs to the pics....I 4got....
Too busy getting dishpan hands and I still have lots left to do.

They knobs are "M's" with the 1 thru 5 and "V" and "T"....
The pots are upper end CTS's ....I desoldered to get to the date code ....
The pots, switch, and switch knob all had similar patina, corrosion, and rust.

For CTS (Chicago Telephone Supply) I would look for a code like 1376623 or similar. The knobs with "V" and "T" are the early knobs so that's a good thing!

The number you are referring to is the 1376603 . I painted and sanded the 6603 to be able to see it better...The eyes were getting pretty tired by that time...

Tom, that's great. So, it is CTS and the third week of 1966. I'll still say 2nd or 3rd quarter of 1966.
