First, thanks for all of your help so far, I really appreciate it and hope to repay some of that at some point.
I am rapidly coming to the refin part of this '66 restoration and I am going to some fair lengths to keep this instrument in it's proper vintage. There was no way to save the finish and I have patiently gotten to the bare wood without damaging or distorting the body lines. The pots and switch are almost completed.
Regarding color....I am wanting to go with the original. It seemed to be a rather dark metallic red...definitely not a cherry, or tomato, or fire engine, it seemed to be closer to a maroon metallic.
My other choice would be the dark blue metallic of that period ( I would call it a Dark, Dark,Blue Metallic).....now......did he choose his colors like Fender? Using popular Auto colors....if so does anyone have any idea as to what these 2 colors derived from?? I really would like to be at least 'Vintage Correct'.
