Anyone else think this "45 year old" guitar looks more like a 20 year old guitar? Check out the Moseley trem and the fretboard dots. Hmmm...

........just don't pay any attention to the:
1) Vibramute replaced with Moseley Trem System-it's Shinier
2) 4 screws holding the P'guard instead of 3
3) different style Klusons
4) BIGGER Fret Markers ("the easier to see you my dear!)
5) Treble side Horn shows red instead of ALL Black
6) What Jewel Knobs (Lathed)
7) No white binding near Neck P'up connecting the binding on both sides of the neck
8) I didn't know they had Strap-Loks back in 1963! I learn something New Everyday!
9) Because of the pic, I can't tell if the German cut is convex or concave :| .

OK, I'll stop here. Someone else can have a turn at this  ......

Semie didn't use the two dot row position markers past the 12th fret until 70s or 80s. I'm not even sure he used them in the 70s much less being over sized.

Oh well! It's no doubt an honest mistake or a typo error. ;)

On the bright side, it sure is a beautiful guitar.

That neck is definitely a product of the '80s, but considering that Semie put his John Hancock (and a Vibramute) on just about every '63 from that period I'm skeptical about the authenticity of this one. The binding and the logos look awfully yellow as though someone has "aged" them, and the 6th string peg (and maybe the 5th and 4th) was drilled a little, uhm, overzealously?

 my last post on this forum showed a long history of ed roman pulling these kind of tricks, but dubtub removed my link. what bothers me, is ed will adventually sell this guitar to an unexpecting, less educated customer, and of course ed will charge the customer thousands of dollars more then what it's worth.
dubtub, do you think my last post is reverent to this forum now?

OiPunkGuy,

I think the goal here is to avoid inflamatory accusations based on hearsay. In other words, Mr. X misrepresented a guitar to ME is different than Mr. X misrepresented a guitar to the friend of a guy who posted on a website. Also, facts are better than opinion: Mr. X didn't handle my return request in a satisfactory manner is different than Mr. X is a liar and a thief.

Let's give Mr. Roman something of the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he really doesn't know what he's got, or it's partial information that got uploaded by a less than astute employee (ie. an 80s reissue of) a 1963 sidejack. It would only take a call to his store to see how they represent it and how the react to the features on the guitar that make it improbably that it's a real 63.
