Well I don't know the others, but I saved all the information and read the patent descriptions. Not a whole lot to discuss, but thanks Mel for the info and it belongs on this forum.

OK, for starters, can anyone tell me what Figure 8 and Figure 9 are all about?
I understand what it represents, but I can't recall Semie ever using that on ANY of
his Ventures or early Joe Maphis Models......

It looks like his initial vibrato design allowed for each individual string end to be adjusted. According to the description of the patent, part of what his design improved upon over the "prior arts" was to keep the guitar in tune as the vibrato was used. His design was to allow a different length of string and relative string travel for each string. In the production guitar he designed the relative compensation into the casting with no adjustments.
I also like that the guitar strap is part of the patent.

I'm just wandering if there might be a Mosrite with such a piece like that on it

In addition to everything else I make from scratch, I also do leather work. I've made all my straps since I was a kid. I've thought about reproducing these straps for a long time and offer them in the classified section. Maybe this winter I'll get back into leather crafting. I can only hand stitch as I do not have leather sewing machine, but I can get close (from a distance).

Better yet, is there some here on the forum that does leather work and can reproduce these?

I wonder how it would have fared if it ever would have went into production.
