A First Act clone?

Postby 101Volts » Mon Apr 13, 2009 7:02 pm

I was going through pictures of First Act's custom guitars (Which are supposed to not be bad, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith plays a custom First Act sometimes) And I found this...

(Sorry I can't post the image)

Opinions?

Personally, I think it would have been nice if they said it was based off of the Mosrite Ventures Mark I model.
1966 Ventures II (German Carved, B670.)
1970s "Not a Blues Bender" Bodies: 2.
1976 Brass Rail Deluxe #10.
2013 Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI.

It also might be a discontinued Model since I did not see it on their current lineup :| .
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

interested find. I always thought first act was the cheapest of the cheap. like guitars you find in walmart. maybe not...... it is kinda cool that this guitar has a mahogany body.

I've gotta say I like it.
in fact I want it.
One thing that bugs me a little is how often guitars such as this don't acknowledge their Mosrite influence. Usually when scouring ebay I type in Mosrite and just accept what comes up, but sometimes when just doing a general search I'll find a Mosrite copy listed under 'cool' or 'classic' or some such vague title.
Frustrating.
Bill.

That one and the two other clones are all custom jobs for "First Act artists",

the first being for Jimmy Messer who apparently rocks hard as Kelly Clarksons guitarist

heres the other two

Brent Hinds from Mastodon, which looked a heck of a lot like a V88 clone, till i saw in the other pictures it was just the paint job.

It has a little "Parker" touch too. I notice that it has "2 high output humbuckers", I wonder it would sound like Mosrites? To me, that's most important.

The Brent Hinds custom is really cool. First Act makes the super cheap starter guitar but they do have a high dollar well made custom line if I remember right.

Their high-end stuff is good quality--I tried a couple at NAMM a few years back. However, the entry-level line that they sell at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc. is God-awful. At the store I teach at we call them "guitar-shaped objects"...

Besides showing lack of class for not recognizing Semie's design and German Carve influence, it's an insult to the intelligence of their customers to imply it's anything other than a Mosrite copy.
