Hey Sidejack63

Super cool guitar! Where was this Dallas show held at?
I've been to the one in Arlington 2 or 3 time in the fall
but no others down there, Dallas is only about 3 hour
from here, if you drive real fast.

First off, beautiful guitar; Congrats.

Some ??'s-

If I have my info in order-

Fillmore of Japan is one of (maybe the primary) builder of modern Mosrite instruments.
(Their website, translated, is a trip, btw, like the instructions that come with a Sony radio for instance!)

So- I know Ed Roman sells the Fillmore Mosrites (that's where I got my Ranger Bass)
and of course we see that Front Porch in Bakersfield is offering them as well.

If I have this correct- Fillmore manufactures the parts- Bodies, necks, etc- sends them
to Bakersfield where the pick-ups are wound, the instruments are assembled, and then either sent back to Japan for resale, or sold at Front Porch.

OR...Parts are sent to Ed Roman, where, at least according to his website info, they are built there, in Las Vegas, and also sold there and/or sent back to Japan for resale.

I'm somewhat confused, as to why Fillmore, who obviously builds completed/assembled instruments would send parts here (USA) for assembly, unless its so they can be labeled "Made in USA" or "Mosrite of USA" or something of that sort.

And how do the pups differ from those that Dana Mosely winds and installs, and apparently those would be a variant of the pups supplied on Fillmore Japan Mosrites...

Pretty ummmm...interesting to say the least, if not confusing.

I imagine that is the way it develops as there is no longer a Mosrite Company per se, building Mosrite guitars/basses, but instead other builders and companies that wish to perpetuate the name and hopefully the quality of the line....

From my experience, although I can't compare my Bass to a vintage Mosrite, the instruments from Fillmore, whether assembled in Japan, Bakersfield, or Las Vegas are top-rate.

Thank goodness.

You are correct. Dana winds the USA pickups, uses USA electronic components, signs her name in the control cavity or on the inside pickguard and sends them back to Japan to be sold as made in USA. She told me that the USA made uses better wood but I find that might be a bit of a stretch. Those guitars regardless of model are basically flawless other than a proper setup.

Well, again speaking from the "Bass Guitar Side" at least, the assembly, fit and finish were awesome.
Don't know if Dana M. is doing/has done any bass pups as of yet, but as I mentioned the SIngle-Coil pup in the Ranger bass is HOT! Amazingly so.
Roman's promised me a set up by their shop tech, and he did a good job. Intonation, action, etc. were all perfect- Simply needed to be tuned!
I wish they made available the 2-pup AS 65 Bass Model as shown on the Japanese site.
Wow~!

That is a beautiful guitar. Hope you enjoy it, immensely. It would really be cool if they came back into favor with recording artists, again.

The Dallas Guitar Show is held at Market Hall near downtown Dallas every April. It's billed as the largest guitar show in the US. It's a 3 day event. Besides THOUSANDS of guitars, amps, and such there are always some big name guitar "Gun Slingers" playing pretty much continuously on 4 stages. Eric Johnson, Satch, and many others! There are clinics throughout the day and it's just a great place to meet fellow musicians and old friends. The Arlington Guitar Show which is held in October each year is also a great show but it focuses heavily on vintage guitars and gear. No bands or stages but still a nice show.
