sorry if this has been covered, but i'm new here and this is my first post.

I have come to accept that i can't afford a "real" Mosrite from Ed Roman or Front Porch. It was a tough realization (oh well, just wait til next year). So, having gone through the 10 steps of greiving, i need some advice. Hallmark or Eastwood? Or is there another option i don't know about?

Hallmark is the only mass produced non Mosrite branded guitar that comes close to being a Mosrite. The Eastwood, Dillon, etc guitars have the general look, but not the feel or sound, but the Hallmark does. If you can afford a Hallmark, that's the guitar you should go with.

thanks....that's pretty much what i had figured. $899 i can handle, $2800 is just out of my league. Depressed economy and all....

I second what MWaldorf says about the Hallmark! I have a Hallmark 60 Custom too and so do others on this forum. The Hallmark is just one step away from the real thing IMHO. Welcome aboard! ;)

Take a Hallmark and put some Ed Elliot pickups in and you should be really close to the real thing.

+4 on the Hallmark C60 Beautiful guitar, good player, great price. And Bob Shade is always a pleasure with whom to do business.

I can vouch for Ed's pickups - they are dead on accurate reproductions of vintage Mosrites sound. Hallmark also makes handwound pickups, but I haven't heard them myself yet.

I 'll be redundant in vouching for the Hallmark. I personally like the stock pickups. Because, they very close to the Mosrite sound, with a little amp tweaking and they are versatile for other sounds.

Don't rule out the Mosrite Ranger sold by Artie at Front Porch Music. They are little more expensive than the Hallmark but if change out the pickups to Elliott's, you'd have about the same in the Mosrite. Either way is a good choice.

Ditto on what Danny posted. Under $1,000...Hallmark without a doubt! If ya can
spring for a couple of extra beans, then the 'Ranger' will make you smile too!
