Fillmore Mosrite MK II confusion

Postby Johnny » Sun Dec 06, 2009 3:25 pm

So, I'm having a little problem here...

The MK II Standard was once made in "deep blue" (same color as Johnny's), then it vanished for some time and got replaced by "california blue", which looks exactly what deep blue looks like under flashlight or sunlight or other bright light, however I havent seen a picture of california blue without bright lights. So now I saw a Deep Blue MK II standard on Hi-Tone Music since a long time, and I got confused... is california blue the same color mayhaps?

OK, so they're not exactly the same, but I blame that on the difference of lighting.
notice how the volume and tone knobs are different between cal blue and deep. The california blue looks like its an earlier model, since it doesnt have the mosrite style knobs... So, I wonder which is in production now. Cal or Deep... The website fillmore-mosrite doesnt list EITHER.

MORE CONFUSION!
I just read the latest catalog on Front Porch site and I saw a deep blue guitar there aswell, and a redwhiteblue guitar with original looking pickups? So they're finally making the real deal pups? Please reply soon. :D

Dana just brought a new '65 model over for me,and it's deep blue rather than the ink blue on the previous '65 models.

So it is the same blue as the discontinued Johnny Ramone signature series used to have. Good to know. Finally it has stopped bugging me.

Thanks.

I kinda thought the blue color of the hallmark Sheena model was closer to the original blue color on johnny's, just one person's humble opinion. :ugeek:

Keep in mind the effect of light used... Johnnys blue mosrite has semed to be this color on accasion aswell. On the loudmouth video shot at vegas place its in pretty neutral light. Like so.

This is the color it was in, since they were only available in basic colors such as Red, Blue, White.

yeah, it's a little hard to know for sure, since the guitar was 10 years old back in 76, and the color would have aged a little. if you could look at the paint under the pick guard that would be a better indicator.
I like them all though :D :D :D
