Gorgeous guitars!

So, how hot are the pickups Dana winds? 10K? 13K? 8K?

Also, once the guitars are assembled, who does the final setup and adjustments?

BTW, Dubtrub, that sunburst looks a lot like the one you did on your guitar!

Yeah, I thought the same thing as soon as that photo came up. And here I thought it was my original idea. Well, at least you saw mine first.

Dana does the setup and she's good at it. We'll have to wait for Artie to tell us the pickups ratings. Unfortunately, Dana doesn't have computer access even though she's a registered member here.

Dana said she winds them about 12.5K. They sound good!

Those look great! Are they for sale? Time to get busy building my own.

That sunburst does look nice. But, that's a bunch of money for non-handbuilt guitar. JMO

It's unclear to me how hands on the construction is. How many people are involved with building the body and neck in Japan? Is it a big factory line or a small group of craftsmen? A luthier is a luthier regardless of where on Earth they practice their trade.

I'm not saying these guitars aren't expensive - they are. But Fender and Gibson artist signature line guitars range upwards of $4,000 retail, and those aren't even the hand built custom shop models.

For the most part, Fillmores are produced at the Tokai factory in Japan. As many of you may know, they have been a first-rate operation since the "lawsuit" era of the 1970s, but definitely not a small luthiery.

Gibson & Fender are Waaaay overpriced. It's just my opinion. I wasn't aware the Fillmores were produced at the Tokai facility. They have a great reputation for excellent "production" grade guitars. I just don't think there is any off the shelf guitar worth $3G-$4G, just because of a name. Orville doesn't make Gibson's, Leo doesn't make Fender's and Semie doesn't make Mosrites, anymore.

There are excellent gig-able, well made and well playing guitars being made these days, at a fraction of that price. If I were to pay that kind of money for a guitar, it would have to be handbuilt, by a single luthier of my choosing.
And again, these are just my thoughts. All the success in the world to Dana and Artie and Fillmore. These appear to be great guitars.
