First off, beautiful guitar; Congrats.
Some ??'s-
If I have my info in order-
Fillmore of Japan is one of (maybe the primary) builder of modern Mosrite instruments.
(Their website, translated, is a trip, btw, like the instructions that come with a Sony radio for instance!)
So- I know Ed Roman sells the Fillmore Mosrites (that's where I got my Ranger Bass)
and of course we see that Front Porch in Bakersfield is offering them as well.
If I have this correct- Fillmore manufactures the parts- Bodies, necks, etc- sends them
to Bakersfield where the pick-ups are wound, the instruments are assembled, and then either sent back to Japan for resale, or sold at Front Porch.
OR...Parts are sent to Ed Roman, where, at least according to his website info, they are built there, in Las Vegas, and also sold there and/or sent back to Japan for resale.
I'm somewhat confused, as to why Fillmore, who obviously builds completed/assembled instruments would send parts here (USA) for assembly, unless its so they can be labeled "Made in USA" or "Mosrite of USA" or something of that sort.
And how do the pups differ from those that Dana Mosely winds and installs, and apparently those would be a variant of the pups supplied on Fillmore Japan Mosrites...
Pretty ummmm...interesting to say the least, if not confusing.
I imagine that is the way it develops as there is no longer a Mosrite Company per se, building Mosrite guitars/basses, but instead other builders and companies that wish to perpetuate the name and hopefully the quality of the line....
From my experience, although I can't compare my Bass to a vintage Mosrite, the instruments from Fillmore, whether assembled in Japan, Bakersfield, or Las Vegas are top-rate.
Thank goodness.
