These pictures are almost making me drool now. Great work, Ed! Just a question: Did anyone ever order one of your 63 Sidejack guitars with a maple fretboard? I'm just curious.

I notice too from the pics that the neck will be applied at an angle to the body! I've noticed this feature on my Halmark 60 Custom and was wondering if it's bigger brother Mosrite has it too. Ed's thread has answered that question for me now, graphically! You know fella's, that could be an important factor contributing to the sound, sustain and intonation of a Mosrite! Listen to me talking here...

I love the Mosrite tiltback-headstock feature too (both features unlike the 'flat' Fender).

And guys please note the correct way to drill the peg head for the tuners. Larger hole on the front for the bushing, smaller hole on the back for the tuner shaft.

And on a side note Ed, did you finish the kitchen cabinets?

I'm loving your photos, Ed. I have another question: At what point is the truss rod installed? (I don't know much about building guitars just yet )

I was wondering exactly the same. In my ignorance I always assumed that the trussrod should be installed before the fretboard goes on.
I suppose we will see it very soon.

Hey Guys,

Thought I stop and anwser a few Qustions:
Mr. Bill, No I haven't finished my cabinets(wife wants to Kill me)When I get these 4 guitar finished, I promised her I'd get back on the kitchen project
101Volts,No I haven't built a side-jack with a maple fretboard (but would be glad to take an order for one).
Scotstandard, I can't sell you one of these( I can put you down for one in the next batch).
Surferbette, Most Fenders and Gibson necks have a one piece rod anchored to the neck at one end or the other, and have to be anchored before the fingerboards are installed, Mosrite style truss rods are made just like Rickenbacker rods, 2 rods welded togeither that work independently from the neck, so they just slide into the channel at any time, If you have a Mosrite with a back-bowed neck you can pull the rod out and flip it over, it will work in reverse and adjust the back bow out.
I make my truss rods from scratch as I do most all my parts, I'm going make rods tonight or tomorrow I'll take a couple of photos of that. (hope I'm not boring you guys to death with all these photos, I didn't realize there would be so many when I started this project).

Please keep the photos coming! I always check to see if you've added any, as I can't wait to see what you've been up to.

As I watch the progress, I wonder how different your methods are compared to Semie's. Things like the StewMac fretboard radius blocks weren't available until maybe 10 years ago.

My wife has been after me to do the kitchen. Maybe I can find a way to "need to buy" a pin router for the cabinets doors!

If your photos are boring, I love being bored! They really tell us more than you can imagine; makes me feel like I'm a sort of guitar builder myself ...(and the closest I've come to any kind of guitar project was changing my strings... ). Keep up the good work Ed
