Paul,

Any more sightings of the phantom pooper?

This reminds me of a time in high school when I was counselling younger students. One guy had gotten himself into a particular bind with a girl and fears that she was in a family way. (thankfully she wasn't) I was sitting with him on the bleachers discussing this serious situation when a bird took a huge dump on my head. Suddenly the guy's situation didn't seem so bad, as he at least wasn't covered in bird poop.

What a wonderful anecdote Mel, straight from experience!
No, I have already put the 'poop indignation' thing behind me but feel obliged to bring the matter to a satisfactory close. No more sightings of the Phantom Pooper today (Saturday).
My aim is not one of personal vindication or to hang out the hero but hopefully try to simply get a message across i.e. that he cannot continue exercising his psychopathic ways in the public domain each and every time, without consequence.

I’m taking the official route though and I'm glad to say I found a willing ear when I phoned the neighbourhood watch team today. The officer paid close attention to what I had to say and practically jumped at he mention of ‘psycho’ possibly being a policeman!
A meeting is arranged for next week to take up the matter further and to draw up a plan of action (if it comes to that).
I’ll report any major developments on “THE CASE OF THE PHANTOM POOPER” as I have now officially dubbed it…courtesy of Mel! ;)

darn Paul, sorry to hear about the poop incident. Hope you see the guy again and rub some poop in his face. As for my house damage, we are still getting bids for the insurance company. I know a lot of people think that since I'm a carpenter that I should do it my self but as it stands I'm spreading myself way to thin to do it.

If you ever meet up with the "phantom" and he apologizes, DO NOT shake his hand(if you know what I mean).

[Dear readers, just to end what I had started, here's an update and conclusion]:

In the meantime the ‘neighbourhood team’ of our local police has been at the phantom pooper’s house, asking questions. I was not surprised upon learning of his denial to the allegations and that he had pointed to a possible other suspect in his neighbourhood -looking like him too with the same sort of dog etc… (yeah, yeah -a real phantom pooper this time!) NOT.
Anyhow I reckoned the message got through and that was good enough for me –end of story.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Guys, I actually did run into the phantom pooper a few days after the police had been at his house!
Last Monday evening I saw him while I was letting out my dog but unfortunately I couldn’t make a positive identification since I had only caught a casual glimpse of his face during that unpleasant throwing incident days earlier.
This chance meeting however, happened in the presence of his girlfriend on the street which passes by his backyard (BTW a scenario strategically very much in my favour).

As he was leaving his backyard with his dog to meet up with his girlfriend he noticed me walking my dog too and I felt somewhat startled as he approached me asking if I could possibly have been the person who had reported a certain dog poo incident…
He didn’t look or behave like a nasty person at all (in front of his girlfriend?) and his demeanour seemed even ‘relaxed’ and friendly but I remained fully alert, heart beating a little faster perhaps and choosing my words very carefully and wisely, holding back any finger pointing.

Of course questions, statements and the usual niceties (meaningless) were exchanged with the pair of them but at the same time this meeting offered me an excellent opportunity to express my thoughts on the elusive dog poo thrower without accusing anyone and in such a way that “he who fits the shoe should wear it”.
As we departed I ‘asked’ if he would please inform me when he had found out anything about the ‘other suspect in his neighbourhood’ so that I could get to present him with my bill from the dry cleaners…

Under the circumstances it would have been unwise to push the matter or try to back him into a corner (I wasn’t out for vindication). Instead my strategy was to simply leave him with room enough to play the ‘innocent guy’ but also letting on that the victim is no fool. Who knows, maybe he now has some explaining to do to his girlfriend but that’s no business of mine.

Of course I could be terribly wrong with the whole thing and I have uttered no accusations to anyone but believe me, everything so far points to the phantom pooper to remain my #1 suspect.
THE END

:D ...heh heh, thanks Jeffrey!

It's amazing, the different types of people you sometimes get meet out there on the street when you have a dog; luckily most of them are OK but it seems that there are always a few bad ones around trying to sour things up for others.

What on earth must be going on inside a mind like that? Not writing a love song or thinking about working at the food pantry....
