59 pre-Venture - Goof Plates - And more.

Postby EF@MosriteRecords » Mon Aug 24, 2009 7:57 pm

Dear Mosrite fans. I had a long talk with Andy and I will try to very soon, to give you pictures of one of these rare 1959 Pre Ventures, from all angles. One of the guitars I discovered in the personal hands of the Moseley family was a TRUE 59 and verified by Andy. This guitar we believe was never completed. The finish on the guitar is near mint,(Sunburst) and we are in the process of finding all the original parts for it. Andy just got off the phone with me so I am adding this. The first one was a Imageprototype late 58 and were built at least through 1961. Andy informed me that no more than 20-25 were ever built. There are several guitars that were given to Andy. They really have never left the family ever. As far as goof plates are concerned all I can say is what's new?. Semie did what ever it took. I have had more than one Mosrite with goof plates. Including a JM-65 #001P with a Alterwood body with one inlaid strip through the body, not two. I wanted the octave neck pick-up slanted in the V profileI. He did it and covered up the gap with pickguard material, (no problem) I have pictures of all these family guitars and have played all of them including the Mandolin's and odd-ball stuff. Semie did keep his first guitar he ever made and I took pictures of it and Andy let me play it. A instrument that stands out for me is a Venture body style in all respects except that while having the standard logo running the length of the headstock. Semie had his full name Semie Moseley at the top of the headstock. The guitar was given to me 2-3 weeks after his passing by Loretta and passed on to me by Rose Lee.The inspection tag was signed by Semie & Serial #SM001P. Final Insp by Jerry S. More to come. The Picture is of Brian Lonbeck and myself doing the two on one, I remember this probably because I have the Video's. The song was Corina Corina.
