Thanks for the link, I think I may have seen that before but as for production model Mosrite guitars I only saw pictures of 70s models with the redburst (Until now)

As for the humbuckers, since the polepieces are misaligned that surely suggests that it did not leave the factory like that.
Adam, yo' da man!
From a technical point of view, I would think that the polepieces of a humbucker doing SLANTED neck pickup-duty on a Mosrite would have to be designed in a stepped manner in order to properly align with the strings, which is NOT the case in Nick's guitar, as you have pointed out. I can't remember off-hand having seen an example of 'stepped polepieces' and if I have, it didn't register  I'll go a-lookin' for a suitable picture now.

Sixstringer wrote:The 6 string is exactly like mine. Right down to the "By Moseley" instead of "By Semie Moseley" on the headstock. Same tuners and all. I've never had the neck off of it, but the pots are dated '71 if I read them right. I could even be wrong. I figure it's a '71 or '72. When I send it for a setup I will have my guitar guy pop the neck off and look for a date. The serial is V0055. Hope this helps...

Not exactly the same, Jeff. One of the tell tale signs of those early '70s Mark Is is the binding that goes all the way around the fretboard. Yours has it, Nick's does not. It is also probable that your guitar has a higher fretboard profile, a slightly different body carve and a slightly different headstock shape.

I see what you're saying. It looks like the body cut on his might be different, now that you point it out. Yes, mine does have the neck binding. It's all very confusing. I don't claim to be an expert on these things, and I apprieciate all the help I can get on here. It's seems a lot of 70's models that I've seen with the smaller headstock lettering say "By Semie Moseley", but some, like mine and his, say "By Moseley"....Maybe somebody can weigh in on that. As far as I know, mine is a 71 or 72. It has those same tuners his does. I've never seen those on another one until now. I was kinda wondering if mine were original, I guess they are.

Nick, the first time you said it I assumed it was a typo, but 7 string?! Does not compute. Please recalculate.

Those tuners are cheapo Japanese tuners that were used on and off from about the mid '60s to the early '70s. They are original. They most often appear on Mosrite acoustics that were given away to churches for free and Mosrite electrics that were custom made for personal friends/acquaintances of Semie. Either way I guess he figured neither would complain if he skimped on the tuners.
