THE RUIS KIDS MOSRITE'S

These instruments were built for Country Music Artist's Buddy & Jeri Ruis. Known as
The RUIS KIDS. I consider them good friends whom I love dearly. The Doubleneck was made for Buddy and the Bass for Jeri. Semie thought highly of them and we did some great shows together in the late 50's early 60's. They hailed from a East County area of San Diego called Johnstown in East ElCajon Valley near Bostonia where my old Late friend Smokey Rogers had a Music Store and Radio Station. I met
them the first time when we played a CAL's CORRAL Show together. Cal Worthington
was a Car Dealer (DODGE) and sponsered many Country Television Shows. Most
of which was on KTTV (Town Hall Party Channel 11) & KCOP (Ranch Party Channel 13) in Hollywood, Los Angeles County. And he was also a sponser of Country Radio on the mighty KFOX Long Beach. The RUIS KIDS were Managed by a dear old friend
at the time Vic McDaniel. They at one point were signed to CAPITOL RECORDS and I still have the press release announcing such. However I am not sure if any tracks were released. Capitol was a great place to record and I have some fond memories of those precious years. The last trip we all made togrther was in 1989 when Semie & Loretta, Myself and Buddy & Jeri with Brian Lonbeck and Debbie went to Bakersfield to the Museum Opening on Memorial Day I believe. Billy Mize, Buck, Bonnie, Susan Raye, Rose Maddox, Rose Maphis, Maff Nutter and so many other old friends. Semie had a ball. It was a gathering I will never forget. More later. I would love to hear from those of you who knew Buddy & Jeri.

Dear Dennis. Some where I do god help me find them I've been in this business
for 55 years. My mom would have probably taken them. We were just 16,17 year
old teenagers. Jeri would have been 4 years younger than me. She would have been
about the same age as Babara Mandrell when I met her the first time. I'll do my best.

Jim: The Bass was taken at the time these pictures were take in 1985 maybe 86 by Semie because he wanted to offer a Bass Vintage Model. He absolutely said when
he saw it that it was so early he wanted to spec. every thing about it so he
could duplicate it exactly. Jeri said OK. She and Semie were very close friends as was Buddy. We all were. We were kids living a dream. Playing music and getting paid for it.
Being able to be around our idols. It just don't get better than that. In the end
Jeri as far as I know never got her Bass back. It went back to Jonas Ridge in around
85-86 and the last time I spoke with Jeri maybe 10 years ago it still had not turned
up. I have no idea what happened to it. But if it ever turned up. Jeri, Buddy and I
know what to look for even if it had been altered by someone. Buddy still has his Doubleneck. The Bass MIA AWOL. You bet.
