Tony, I forgot to do at first, welcom to this forum! Do you have any information about the episode of Black Widow by Mosrite? As you know, there is the website of Black Widow, but I can find no information why Semie was in charge of building in a short period. Please check this website as follows. According to the administrator, this guitar was a prototype of Black Widow. If this was true, Semie started to this project after the bankruptcy in 1969.

Thanks for the welcome,Desert Surfer :!:

Hi Arpsum, all I know is that in 1972 Acoustic Control Corp. commissioned a company in Japan to build the Black Widow. Then
around 1974 they gave the contract to Mosrite who made about two hundred of them. My B.W. guitar is a 72(Japan) and my B.W. bass is a 74 Mosrite. The best of two world's ;) Thanks Tony

I'm sorry Tony. Actually, I was referring to just the Footswitch on the left side of the picture. I was just curious
if this was the ORIGINAL Footswitch that goes to the AWARD "Ventures Model" Amplifier.......
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Good Morning, The footswitch for the amp was made by Ed Sanners about three years ago. ED is the man when it comes to amps :!: Thanks Tony

Hi Tony, I'm so surprised Ed did make it. According to 'Vintage Mosrite', he replied he wasn't concerned with BG series by The Ventures. I haven't tried the FuzzLite on BG series, Are there any difference between built-in Fuzzrite and stand alone version?

HI Arpsum, you do know that ED is the creator of the mosrite amp in the late 60s,right? He's a nice old guy and very helpful
when I restored my BG-500 amp. He made that amp sound new and I made it look new LOL. Yea he made the footswitch for me and charged me about 135.00 for it. I tried both fuzz and I must say that I like the one in the amp better :!: Thanks Tony

Tony, thank you for your impression. Mainly the difference is caused by the difference of transister. As you know, we can buy the circuit diagram of BG500 from MusicParts.com. I found the difference about the circuit except for the transister between both of them.

As far as I recognize, Ed was in charge of building Semie's Mosrite amps, those model names were beginning from 'Model-xxx'. According to the interview of Ed in 'Vintage Mosrite', he refused the offer from The Ventures to make amps for them within 3months. Then The Ventures asked another company to make the BG series. That's why I mentioned in previous post, although I don't know in detail which was built earlier.

Vintage Soul, you do know that the BG Award Mosrite amps were not built by Ed Sanner or the Semie Moseley Mosrite Amps, right?

BG Awards were contracted by the Ventures to be manufacture by another company in the Eastern United States. The Ventures were the distributors for Mosrite guitars and wanted a Ventures model amp to go with the Ventures guitar. Semie was too busy with his other endeavors (Dobro) to develop a mass production amplifier in a timely manner, so the Ventures went elsewhere. The BG Award amps had absolutely nothing to do with Mosrite Guitar Manufacturing Company other than share a nomenclature on the face of the amp. The Ventures made a 'quick' deal with Semie and paid him a flat fee of $5000 to use the Mosrite name on their BG Award amps.

During this time period Mosrite did manufacture amps, a few of which were designed by How Dumble then Eddie Sanner came along and assisted in the production of a limited run of Mosrite amps. The onboard fuzz on the BG amps were a different circuitry than the original Sanner developed design which is believed to be a modified Red Rhodes design.

All this information is well researched and documented by Del Halterman and discussed in detail in his book, The Story of The Ventures. Info on this book is posted elsewhere in the Music Related forum.
