I don't believe that guitar is factory, either. But if the price is low enough, it's almost academic. I think Jim is looking for a budget axe with speed frets. This'll do.

The knobs look like those on a recently identified Ed Elliott refin and re-assembly here.

This one is scaring me! I got outbid yesterday afternoon and want to see how cheap this ugly little puppy goes for.

There are so many weird things about it, as Sarah indicates, that it might be more trouble than it's worth; even to a cheapskate like me!!!

Jim, I think you are on track to get what you really want. Add a couple hundred to what you already have and we will find you an original Celebrity tahat is complete. Your patience will reward you with a guitar that you will love and be proud of.

I'm not an expert on Celebs at all but I do notice that there are no rings/washers (sorry, don't know the correct name for this part) complimenting the tuning key shafts, making them look kinda 'naked' :?

Well, the bidding on this pitiful thing is going nuts. 33 bidders; over $700 with a few minutes to go.

That is crazy.

There are vintage shops that sell these for around $800 or so in a lot better condition.

$742. 34 bids.

That is nuts for a guitar in that kind of shape.

Sorry to whomever bought this, but you got took.
