I would like to ask the VENTURE Experts out there what their feelings are as
to the Max number of Bound Set Neck Ventures Model's you feel Semie Built.
Andy has said Quote: That there were Bound Set Neck models finished and buffed
and in stock that could be completed even after the Bolt-in Necks & no Binding
Models came out. I would not want to argue this point because Andy has two
of those left overs right now and has had them since the Bakersfield failure.
I learned a long time ago don't ever say never. Also does anyone know what's the highest serial number known for a Bound Set Neck model.

I heard there were around 75 set neck sidejack Ventures models.

Also Andy tells me there were several materials one would find in regard to the Jack Plate. Single layer black. Multi Layer, Tortotse pattern even single layer white.
This one has single layer black w/ the two small phillips round head screws.

ALSO to TimR yes. Good point and I can confirm Andy and Semie have both told me
75-80 made. Andy reconfirmed this the other day and again today.

Elaine - Great find, thanks for posting the photos. How is the neck angle with the bridge height adjustment? The reason I ask is I have a 1983 Set-Neck, Side Jack Ventures hadmade by Semie and the Neck is set a little shallow. It still has low action but not as low as my Bolt Necks, they are shimmed. I was told it is to the exact same specs as the one in your photos, except mine has the 3-screw guard.

Dear thunderhead; Good question. The neck angle on this is what I have seen
from that period of time. The top of the neck pick up is just slightly lower than the top
of the fretboard. The Bridge still has about 1 1/2 to two turns before it would
bottom out on both elevation screws. The action at this point is set for SPEED. With actions set as low as this it takes Finesse, Touch and Feel to play one. A lot of good players over the years have told me "I just cannot play those speed necks".
I would have to measure it, but I would say the top of the fretboard is about 1/2 -5/16' above top of body. If somebody wants to know exactly I can Mic it. This Neck is as straight as the day it left Semie's hands. I have found since last "REPLY" that the guitar came through a Music Store Named Northland Music. When I talk to Steve I will ask what town?. Also this guitar was being used as a "Promotion Guitar" and was maybe the reason it was still in inventory. Semie, Andy, or Sales was using it as a Demo. Steve remembered he got a good deal because it had been a Demo at Mosrite in Bakersfield. This makes good sense to me.

Thanks for that info Elaine, very interesting. I love the Mosrite Slim Neck with Speed Frets, it's a big part of what sets them apart from other Guitars.

I haven't posted here for a long time but happened to "tune in" tonight. I have 6 of these in my collection and have collected information on several others. The best estimate is that approximately 200 bound sidejacks were produced. I have the following numbers:
0016 - has the original mute bridge (not the roller bridge)
0039 - bound sidejack with roller bridge
0124 - black - bound sidejack with roller bridge
0127 - bound sidejack with roller bridge
0173 - bound body with top jack, bolted on neck and 9 pickguard screws
0190 - bound sidejack with roller bridge

I also have a '59 Joe Maphis ( Ventures prototype) with a mute bridge.
It is interseting and somewhat puzzling that Elaine's has more than 3 pickguard screws.
