He's Phil X and he demonstrates guitars for a store. He's made better videos that are more entertaining and informative. They're better than the demos Rockongoodpeople have, Which you may have seen. (Did you see the Mosrite 350 and M88 video reviews? They're from Rockongoodpeople)

I agree. He knows nothing about the Ventures and he pronounces names wrong including Mosrite. I think he says something like Mossrite. Someone who should be doing demos for Ibanez! :P

He demonstrated all kinds of guitars. Check out some of his other demonstrations, He has a lot of better ones.

This Phil X is a bit of a show-off too...but then he can afford to be; one thing you've got to give him, he certainly knows his way around a guitar and the MODERN style of guitar playing ...and I wouldn't be surprised if he is a prominent member of a well known band(s)... :?

Back to bendin' those strings again. I'm practicin' the Ventures' "ESCAPE" right now on my Hallmark 60 Custom and you can actually see the trem-arm move up and down (actually down and up ;) ) as it dedicatedly assists with the bending!

BTW "Escape" is a tune rarely covered, if at all...even the Ventures themselves only made one studio recording of it and never played it live, as far as I know (see "Go With The Ventures" album, 1966) :geek:

Happy 2009 Count Down, all!

Cheers, Paul

I've heard about those b-benders but I've never tried one. It must take some getting used to!

I tried out a B-Bender tele one time at guitar center, kinda a cool thing to play around with. the one thing that stocked me though, is there's A LOT of extra weight to the guitar for the bender mechanism. But heavy guitars don't bother me, but I could imagine it wouldn't be ideal for some players

Yes "Escape" is so great! Great Mosrite tone on that song. Another favorite Ventures tune was just mentioned also, "The Fugitive" what a riff.
Thanks Veenture the Xmas Ventures info.

Bending on Mosrites is 100% possible.

It's just a matter of taking the time required practicing and getting used to the special characteristics of a Mosrite neck. ;)

I'm doing fine bending on my Mk IIs' with 10-46 gauge strings and I play lots and lots of blues based lead playing.

Just take the time to master it. :)

It all starts with strings and preference.
