I must brage that I've contributed 4 of her Celebrities. Sarah, I cannot WAIT to see what you put together. That is gonna be totally cool. Maybe put a bulliten out. Create a new topic w/ the title "All celebrity owners, please click here" or something like that & I bet you get a great response.

Btw, my Celebrity I has a Mosely.
In order of purchase:
1) Mosrite Ranger
2) V88
3) Stereo 350
4) Hallmark II in Johnny Blue
5) Danelectro '66
6) Celebrity III
7) Hallmark Gospel
8) Serenade
9) Eastwood 300

Just for fun, I thought I'd share a little sample. Here are ten different colors that I have found so far on the Celebrities. There is a Dobro (burgundy burst) and a Gospel (dark blue) in there but they were still Celebrity bodies, so I'm gonna count them.

We have: Natural, Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Green, Red, Burgundy, Sunburst, Red Burst, Burgundy Burst.

Man, I like that Gospel - Any idea how many of these are floating around, and how obtainable they are?

I have no idea how many Gospels are out there. It seems that Semie first made some of them in 1966. They popped up again in 1968 and then again in 1969/1970. My guess would be most of them were made in the '69 era because that's when he had lost the Mosrite name for a while. Most of them used Celebrity bodies but some were also Mk V bodies which I think is what Kurt Cobain of Nirvanna played. The headstock on the Celebrity bodied ones do not have the "M" shape nor the Mosrite logo.

I don't think I have seen one for sale in the time that I have been looking and I have no idea how much they would go for. I would love to have one as well!

I think the Gospels, Acoustic Black Widows, and Dobros/Mobros also deserve a spot in the Celebrity lineage.

There were two on eBay back in September. I believe one was even listed by a forum member.

Both were Celebrity style and neither of them sold. It's a shame, The cherry/strawberry burst one looked quite nice. (I did document the auctions though, Pictures and all)

So far I have collected three Gospel samples. Blue, Red, and Redburst. I would certainly love to add one to my little collection.

Update: I have now collected photos and information on 92 Celebrities, so far. I keep searching. Lots of great information is being gleened from studying the differences. It appears that our very own Geoff Stitch has a 1964 Celebrity which was the first year and the only year that they put parellel bars under the top on each side of the pickups. When I see Geoff next I will definately get some interior pictures of that guitar.

I've found a hosting service for www.mosritecelebrity.com and hope to get a page up pretty soon and start putting information on it. :D

Thank you! I hope it is fun and most importantly informative for people. I'm also hoping that it is a project that will continue to grow. The "Registry" page has 120 Celebrities on it already in serial number order. Hopefully visitors will be inclined to share.

Yes, that would be awesome to see more websites with good information. I'm surprised that if you Google "Mosrite Celebrity" my website pops up already and it isn't even live yet. Just shows you how needed the information is.
