That is one beauty of a finish!
Bob, you guys should do custom finish one-offs on the '59 and '60 every now and then, and offer them for sale on the website in your custom section.

Hey! I wish I could say that I took those, but I didn't. Whomever did take 'em did a heck of a job.
I bet Bob took them. He likes to surprise us with his hidden talents.

I believe you can produce equal results Jim. Isn't it amazing how a finish like that can transform a guitar into a stunning object (of art)?!...and it still remains that way the morning after the day before, heh heh.JimPage wrote:Paul asked:

I'll bet my Sunburst H60C can play just as well though!

Re: Hallmarkguitars at NAMM 2010
Thanks, Paul, for the kind words!
I'll never forget the first time I saw one of Bob's snazzoid astral finishes on a guitar. This had to be 10 years ago.
I was absolutely slack-jawed when I saw that guitar. The finish was so stunning that I couldn't tell you now what kind of guitar it was, but I'll never forget seeing the artistic finish on it.
All I could think of to say was, "Gee, Bob; that's amazing."

WOW! That's incredible! Fabulous paint job. And here I've just ordered a sunburst 60 Custom--for a second, I considered calling Bob to order that one instead, but I'm not changing my order now. That custom paint job has to entail a hefty upcharge, and I wouldn't take it out to play it anywhere for fear of scratching it--it would have to be a wall-hanger, and I don't have any guitars that are wall-hangers--they all get played sooner or later. I'm glad I'm getting a regular sunburst one--I won't be afraid to take it on a gig. That thing sure is a work of art, though!

Well, there's no doubt that Mr. Shade can do a beautiful paint job. But I have to tell you (and particularly jfine & Paul) the my sunburst 60 Custom is one of the most stunning guitar that I have ever seen. It's almost a tobacco-burst (think early two-toned Strats), simple and elegant, and it's still hard to close that case at night.
Thanks,Bob

Re: Hallmarkguitars at NAMM 2010
I'm with you, LOSTVENTURE! In fact, it was the pic of Paul's 'burst 60 Custom in the 60 Custom thread that pushed me over the edge toward the sunburst instead of the Surf Pearl. The first Mosrite I ever saw was on the back of a Ventures album cover--sunburst, of course, with binding, and I've always liked that look, but then I like early-'60's sunburst Tele Customs better than the equivalent blonde ones too! Although a white-blonde 60 Custom with a tortoise pickguard and tortoise binding would look absolutely spectacular...

Man, I reckon a Sunburst (to me) must always be the starting point...maybe 'ending point' for some of us, depending on our guitar budget
Browsing the internet during December of 2008 -and driven by a severe case of Mosritis- I stumbled upon Bob Shade's Hallmark Guitars website. Finally the Mosrite shape and sound was comfortably within reach! Hallmark's history, attractively cool website and affordable prices pushed me over the edge for a Hallmark Sunburst
