My flat slab Ventures II

Postby zarfnober » Sun Feb 07, 2010 8:40 am

Here is a link to a picture of my Ventures II

http://www.ne.jp/asahi/mochizuki/kiyosh ... I-B003.jpg

I will take better pictures someday and post them properly. This photo is on a Japanese Mosrite owners list. Tuners are non original, tailpiece is a solid Mosely that I got from Loretta, pickup switch is machined type and the Ramones all signed the pickguard, except for Ritchie and the short lived Elvis Ramone(met Clem Burke once and he became very nasty the second I mentioned Johnny Ramones name). Guitar was refretted with frets I got from Loretta, originals were literally ready to pop out. I still have the original tailpiece. Serial #B003. And interestingly enough, the neck and body dates are PRIOR to the dates on that blue "prototype" Ventures II that has been discussed here before. This is a July 1965 guitar. I promise better pictures someday.

Thanks for sharing! Kind of funny though, I've seen a picture of another Red Ventures II Slab Body with the same modifications (Maybe minus the tuners) Here it is in this video at 1:58.

Cool song, thanks for posting. But you need to look a little closer at the tailpiece. Mine is a solid Mosely tailpiece, like Semi used on Johnnys guitar, the guitar in the video had a regular vibrato Mosely tailpiece. Guitar in video also has original tuners, tailpiece may be stock, may be changed. Would have to see a closeup of the body and look for evidence of regular Ventures II tailpiece. I used the solid tailpiece to keep it in tune. I could switch it back to the original and you'd never know the difference.
