gplayer--the reshape on the carve is actually on the upper bout treble-side horn. Earlier 60 Customs had the indented portion of the German carve running parallel to the body edge around the tip of the horn, a style that Semie instituted in the mid-'60's to speed up production. On the new 60 Customs, the carve on the horn is smoothed over on the tip, like the 59 Custom and the original sidejack set-neck models. In the days before CNC machines, that carve probably had to be done by hand, and would have meant an extra step in the production process. I prefer the new original-style carve, especially with the binding, so I'm glad to see that they're doing it on the new ones. Can't wait to get mine!

I see that on the '59's, but the pics on Hallmarks site still show the 60's with the routed carve. I too, like the smoothed look better.

In conversation with Bob, he said all the bodies now being produced have that new softer line ...

I always thought it looked more "Mosritey" with the softer line. That's my new word for the day....

Almost makes me want to send mine back for a do-over. I wonder what it would cost to have that done? Probably cheaper to buy a new one. That contour pretty much nails the Mosrite look.
