Isn't that the truth! I agree with Semie.

WOW, Sarah!!!

SEMIE LIVES!!!

You even snuck one of those green ones in there!!!

Now you need to do an image of that guy who parts up all the Mosrites on eBay. You can start with an image of Dr. Victor Frankensteen . . .

Hey Sarah,

That photo is so cool, I'm absolutly sure Semie would have got a big kick
out of it.
I may have to add a Celebrity style guitar to my 2010 line-up.
I could be to only builder in the world building "Custom Celebrity Clones"
Do you think they would sell???

Ed

Ed, I would buy one! Especially if I can have some input into it's design.

Celebrity-I style

Bout 16 1/2" wide, 2 3/4" deep
2 piece maple or mahogany neck, with the tiny dots
ebony fretboard (I like ebony, everyone else can have rosewood)
zero fret, something like speed frets in stainless steel
24 1/2" scale
Trestle bracing
Maple or mahogany top, back , and sides
2 single coil pickups (or 3 single coil pickups)
three position pickup selector switch
Tone Styler by Stellartone (tone switch)
Master volume knob
Tremelo
Grover Tuners
White Nitrocellulose finish
Multi layerd binding (black-white-black) on body, neck, and F holes

Okay, that ought to do it. How much?

Thank you all on the comments of the photo. One of our forum members is pretty dang good at photoshop! He is so kind in making me some special images for my Mosrite Celebrity website.

Just a quick update on the website. It's a lot more work than I thought and therefore taking longer than I anticipated. It is a labor of love though! It is going to be approximately 20 separate pages covering all of the aspects of this great guitar. So far I've catalogued 120 Celebrities and have some awesome pictures. I have also made many discoveries. For example, 12 body colors, four logos, five headstock shapes, seven pickguard shapes, at least 2 F hole sizes, 2-3 knob designs, different knob locations, different strap pin locations, etc.

It is my best guess that these guitars were made from 1965 to 1974. I have yet to confirm that. I have scans from the 1965 Mosrite Catalog as well as 1973 Catalog showing the Celebrities. However, the 1966 catalog shows the Celebrity as "NEW", as in a new model. I spoke to a former Jonas Ridge employee who told me they never made Celebrities there. I am of the opinion that the Celebrity was only made in Bakersfield and none of the other Mosrite locations. I'm still not sure exactly when Semie moved to Bakersfield. I believe the "hey-day" for the Celebrity is between 1967-1969. Most of the guitars I find are either a "K" or "A" series serial number. I have discovered several serial number prefixes that are not on Tym's list.

Here is a treat. This is one of the first Gospel Celebrities, S/N GA009. It was Semie's personal Gospel that he played when he was touring. It's been authenticated by members of Semie's family, including Andy, and is insured by the owner for $100,000.00.

Just being able to sit way back here in the last row and watch the exchanges between members of this forum is pure pleasure. Nowhere else could one learn so much about and see such great Mosrite guitar pictures. Thanks.
Jim
