Isn't it poor form for one to estimate the weight of a lady?

That is true but when it's kept between us girls it's okay.

Have you ever held one of these guitars? They are heavy. If you are simply wanting a doubleneck to play a few songs during a set and not looking for a pricey collectible, there are other fairly inexpensive options out there. Jay Turser and Dillion both have Gibson copies that sell for around $500. I see them periodically on eBay for less. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp& ... 68f2eec009

Any idea what it would cost to restore to original condtion and then what it would be worth afterward? If I approach this strictly as an investment to buy and resell, what could I expect profit wise?

Sarah,

I wouldn't recommend buying it for an investment and resell. I was under the impression you wanted to buy and use it in your band. For that purpose I would purchase the pickups and original Mosrite embossed covers from Ed Elliott (he has them for restorations only), get the reproduction molded from an original switch tip and "M" knobs from Artie, refinish if you like or play as is. All that could probably be done for under $500. If you are planning to seek out authentic original parts then I'd say forget it. Resell there is no demand for a double neck unless it is untouched original condition and then only a collector would pay top dollar. The way I see it is, it is only worth the amount you are willing to spend and then that worth is only your value not the market.

Thank you very much. That helps a lot. I think they are great guitars but it is not the sound that I'm looking for in our band. I think I'll go with the Gretsch Duo Jet double neck with Filtertrons. Thank you for the help!!

Danny, I know what I ask is off topic, but do you think that what you say could also apply to a 12 string Mo' (to a lesser degree, at any rate)?

Absolutely! But that's is just from my perspective as I see it. What type of demand is there for a 12 string?

Indeed! About a month ago I made a bid on a 12 on ebay in absolutely stunning (Sunburst) condition. Of course my bid was too low but before raising my bid I thankfully came to my senses and thought: "what am I going to do with a twelve-string"...(I mainly play lead parts). Well, I guess that's what happens when you fall in love with a Mo' Joe.
I would like to try one out though...never had the pleasure.

Sir, I value your perspective ;)

Being a rythm player I have a fair bit of need for a 12 string. There are a lot of songs that I do that have several guitar parts including a 12 string. For example, The Eagles, Guns N Roses, Led Zepplin, just to name a few.

Sarah,

Not as cool as a double neck, but certainly easier to carry, there's the EH Micro POG. I got one of these after my Jaguar Baritone got stolen. You can get good up or down octave tones, and it does a pretty convincing 12 string. The new digital pedals track really well, staying with the notes through bends, glissandos, etc.

Figure the money you save you can spend on more Celebrities!

Woah, that is so cool! I've never heard of these. I definately will have to check them out. It doesn't replace the coolness factor of the double neck though.
