A SUPER MOSRITE LARGE BODY DOUBLE NECK FROM THE 1950'S

Postby EF@MosriteRecords » Sun Jun 13, 2010 3:14 pm

Hi Gang. It's great to be back home for awhile. We have been beating the road
pretty hard. It's Fan Fair and NAMM time in Nashville, Tn. The Chet Atkins Festival
is in early July. Topic is what is reaction on this 1950's Vintage Double Neck. I first received photo's from Terry. Took me by surprise. Checked with ANDY and his response
was it was made for a Pastor that Semie owed money. This type of payment by Semie
is no surprise, he did this many times with folks he owed money to.

The Bigsby is not original to Guitar and is plain to see in the gallery of photo's
on E-Bay, that is plain to see in the close-ups. The shop that has the Guitar
is not correct that it a more fancy guitar than Joe's original. The binding is the same
basic that Joe's guitar has. The keys are not Grover Imperials and the guitar is not all original. Non the less it is a super great find and looks in great shape. The fact the case is with it is even better. Joe's original case was the same type. The fact it has no NAME in necks is also noted.

I am sure many of you have comments. Let's go. I will be going over to Andy' on Tue.

We will find original photo's and post and soon as possible.

Love to all.

Elaine Frizzell

Welcome back, Elaine - we've been wondering where you were. At any rate, this guitar is still a huge find. For some reason, this seller seems to have come into some "stash" of vintage Mosrites - no telling what's going to turn up next.

I agree Dennis. It was the first thing I noticed was it has no name in necks.
The person it was made for did not care about announcing it. No ego. Such as a pastor
might be. It was not about him but the Message or the Music. He certainly wanted
the Joe Maphis Look, even at that time.

It's great being back home.

Welcome back to the forum Elaine.

This guitar was discussed in a post entitled "50's Doubleneck on eBay". On page two Mel captured the individual photo's.
