Another Chicago Member

Postby PhilTIki » Fri Oct 03, 2008 1:51 pm

Hey everyone. Just got my 3rd Mosrite (unfortunately, I sold the other 2) - all of which were Japanese. One day I'll own a real one. Anyway, I play guitar in a band called Wraygun, which is mostly Link Wray covers with some surf thrown in. I also play bass for The Cocktail Preachers.

I saw this one at GC, of all places, and bought it. Not sure who it was made by. Mosrite Of California, no Ventures logo, generic pickups and no neck plate. I added the Bigsby so I can do some surf on this as well. Don't worry, I used the VibraMate so it's not permanent.

There's a ton of great info here. I spent hours looking around before I joined.

Thanks.

Phil

Welcome from St Lou ... There are some tremendously helpful folks on this forum. And BTW - you have a great Mosrite resource if you are looking to buy, in the Chicago Music Exchange. They have a ton of vintage instruments. Welcome

I'm actually doing work in East St. Louis right now. If you know where the Flying J gas station off of 255 near the beelman trucking place is that's where my job site is.

Thanks everyone!

BTW,
I found a pic me playing my first Mosrite. Myra from Gein & The Graverobbers joined us on stage for a few songs.

Nice Pic Phil. BTW, I thought I'd wait and give someone else a chance to respond to your Gear Pic. OK, TIMES UP! That's ALSO a NICE Model #1484 sitting to our right in the pic. Do you by chance have any info on that little puppy? For instance, how many years did DanElectro make that model for Sears with the "Silvertone" Badge on it? Was just curious....
p.s. I'm guessing ya' got the Head "parked" in the Cab....

Ha! Good eye. Yes. That's a Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve. Sometimes I like it better than the Fender, especially when doing the Link Wray thing. It's a 1966 with original Jensens. The head is stored in the back. I don't know much about the Danelectro/Silvertone deal, unfortunatley. Sorry.

Dennis, Chicago Music Exchange has a ton of old Mosrites. But, man are they insanely priced! Wow. Cool to look at, though.

Thanks!
Phil

Here's a shot of the head and cab.
