Bill Bartlett 6/12 Mosrite Special Story

Postby TerryTNM » Thu Jul 15, 2010 7:08 am

I think I posted this photo before but about a month ago Bill Bartlett contacted me about the guitar.
It seems that Bill ordered this guitar while with the 60's group "The Lemonpipers" with hit 'Green Tambourine'
It turns out Bill has never seen the guitar and has no idea who the guy in the photo is.
Bill sent a nice 5 page letter reminiscing about the early days and Semie Moseley,
ordering the Special 6/12, some of his guitars and other groups.

Bill was also the singer and lead guitar player for the super Southern Rock group 'Ram Jam' with monster hit "Black Betty"
Bill also talks about the Gibson Les Paul in this video that he modified.

I've posted Bills letter in my NEWS section. This guy is a real Joe Maphis, Larry Collins fan. And a surprising whirlwind couple of weeks after buying a Hallmark "Deke" model

Take a couple of minuted and read his letter. http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/TNM_Guitars/News/NewsExtra.htm

Wow Terry! Thanks for sharing that. I loved reading the letter. So many cool references to early Mosrite history in there. I was surprised to read Semie was using Grovers in 1968. I didn't think he did that until the 1970's. Thanks for the video link too. I had forgotten about that song, but it sure was popular back in the day. Some great lead guitar work in that one!

Hey Sarah,
Semie used the Grover Imperial's on those 3x3 "paddle head" Joe Maphis type doublenecks. . . very heavy!.

I've posted more pictures to that page. You might have to refresh to see them.

Thanks for looking. It's a good story.

That is fascinating Terry! Is Bill aware of our Forum? That would be really cool for him to get on board.
Somewhere on the Forum, there was mention that the Lemon Pipers used to pull a "Who Act" and
would smash up their Mo's, besides the one that Bill had mentioned in the letter..... :o
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
